Ghanaa’s police service has arrested Ghanaian hipop artiste and self-acclaimed dancehall king in Africa, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known in showbiz industry as Shatta Wale is in the grips of the police for publishing false information.
According to an official communication from the Ghana Police service, Shatta Wale turned himself in on Tuesday 19th October, 2021 at 8:59 pm upon the police invitation.
The police statement says the controversial dancehall artist is assisting the police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.
The Ghana Police service yesterday mounted a search for the Ghanaian entertainment celebrity, who posted on social media handle alleging to have been shot by an unknown gunmen which turned out to be false.
Shatta Wale through his personal assistant made series of posts on social media claiming to have been shot and is in critical condition being attended to by medical personnel in an unknown medical facility.
The post by his P.A (Nana Dope) created a lot of tension on social media thus creating fear and panic
The Ghana Police, after the said post made several attempts to locate the whereabouts of the dancehall King which proved futile
The Police then issued a statement that reads “the attention of the Police has been drawn to the widely circulated news on the alleged gunshot-attack on one Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale.
‘’On hearing the news, the police have launched an investigation into the matter including making contacts with some of his close friends and family members and all of them claim not to have knowledge of his whereabouts or the alleged incident,” the statement further stated .
Team of Police experts visited the house of musician but could not find him. The Police then mounted a search for Shatta Wale at major hospitals in the country’s capital, Accra.
Shatta Wale later in the day posted on his Facebook page claiming he was on the run because his life was in danger.
The conflicting reports raised discussion on social media with many people saying they think it is just a publicity stunt to promote his “Gift of God album”.
