The seat of the US presidency, the White House has appointed Dr Edjah Nduom, son of Ghanaian businessman and politician, to lead the fight against ‘’ moonshot cancer’’ within the United States of America.
President Joe Biden entrusted the Associate Professor of the Neurosurgery with the mandate to lead the ‘’Moonshot Initiative launched on Wednesday 2 February 2022 at the White House.
Announcing the appointment, President Joe Biden credited Dr Edjah Nduom for exhibiting high professional standards during the treatment of the eldest son’s cancer.
Joe Biden further expressed gratitude to the son of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom for his general commitment to the treatment of cancer patients across the United States.
The Ghanaian Doctor was entrusted with the treatment of Beau Baiden, diagnosed with aggressive ‘glioblastoma’ brain cancer.
The medical Dr spent 18 months of his professional career trying to save the president’s son but Beau died later aged 46.
Addressing the launch at the White House, the President observed that many people in the US and the outside world have stories to tell about cancer and their lost ones.
He stressed that cancer in any form can be fought through collective effort.
President Biden therefore appealed to all to join the fight against the disease.
Dr. Edjah Nduom is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Emory University School of Medicine in the US.
He is currently the Membership Director of Joint Sections of American Association of Neurosurgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
