Rwandan President, His Excellency Paul Kagame has received a heart warming welcome in his three day official visit to Jamaica.
Mr. Kagame and his entourage arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport on Wednesday.
His visit is at the invitation of the Prime Minister Andrew Holness to the 60th Independence Anniversary of Jamaica.
The three-day state visit by the Rwandan leader is expected to strengthen the diplomatic co-operations between the two countries and their respective leaders.
Kagame was met on arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport by Jamaica Governor, General Patrick Allen and country’s Prime Minister Andrew Holiness to a ceremonial Guard of Honor welcome.
Announcing the Rwandan President’s arrival, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in a tweet.
A related OPM tweet described Kagame’s visit as a new page in Rwandan and Jamaican relationship.
It further expressed the enthusiasm that the move will strengthen the bilateral bond and collaboration between the CARICOM Region and Africa.
President Kagame during his stay will pay a courtesy call on the Governor-General, the Prime Minister Andrew Holness and other Jamaican government officials.
Paul Kagame and his entourage will officially grace the launch of the 60th Independence Anniversary of the people of Jamaica.
The theme for the anniversary is “Reigniting a Nation for Greatness.”
His Excellency Kagame is also expected address a joint sitting of the Jamaican Parliament on his second day of arrival.

As part of his official state visit, President Paul Kagame will pay respect to Jamaica’s first National Hero, Marcus Garvey.
Kagame will lay a ceremonial wrath on the tomb of the Late Jamaican and universal hero.
According to the Jamaican OPM, this will be followed by a State Dinner at King’s House.
There will be bilateral talks with Prime Minister on Friday after which the Rwandan leader and his Jamaican host are expected to endorse a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral matters.
The two leader will on same day engage in “a government to government” panel discussion.
President Paul Kagame is the first Rwandan leader to ever visit Jamaica.
