Sun Shujun, a Chinese expatriate miner and businessman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in Rwandan.
The Chinese national was handed the jail term by the Karongi Intermediary Court after he was found guilty of torturing co-workers.
In August 2021, the expatriate was captured in a video that went viral in Rwandan beating two of his co-workers.
In the said video, Shujun was seen whipping his Ali Group Holdings co-workers while they were tied to a tree.
He accused his victims of stealing.
The Rwandan Investigations Bureau (RIB) arrested Shujun together with two accomplices when the video came public.
Alexis Renzaho and Leonidas Nsanzimana; Ali Group Holdings engineer and security guard respectively were arranged before court alongside Shujun.
Gihango Primary Court in September 2021 remanded all three accused persons in custody.
They were later arraigned before the Karongi Intermediary Court.

Shujun was then granted a Rwf10 million bail with his passport confiscated but his two accomplices were denied bail.
They reappeared before Karongi Intermediary Court on Tuesday 19th April, 2022 when Shunjun was handed the 20 year jail sentence.
The court also confined Renzaho to twelve years imprisonment as an accomplice in the crime.
Nsanzimana, the third accuse was found innocent and was acquitted and discharged.
The court also ordered Shujun and Alexis Renzaho to pay Rwf 2.5 million as compensation to their victims.
They are to further pay costs and charged during the proceedings to the court.
Authorities of the Karongi Intermediary Court has given the accused persons one month to appeal the decision.
