The registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat has disclosed that the secretariat is in the process of establishing a labour bank that meets the requirements of the modern Ghanaian job market.
Dr. Agyemang said his outfit is developing the innovative human resource hub in collaboration with other state business driven institutions such as the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
Dr. Kingsley Agyemang hinted of the planned establishment of the labour hub when addressing the 10th anniversary of the Ghana- Morocco Old Students Association in Accra.
Touching on the theme for the occasion: Celebrating 10 Years of Promoting Regional Integration Through Students Youth Diplomacy, Dr. Agyemang acknowledged the tremendous support of Morocco and other countries in the training of Ghana’s human resources in the form of scholarships and other bursaries.
He pointed out that Ghana can boast of a sizeable number of professionals who have acquired training outside and are making great strides in their various fields either home or abroad.
He however regretted that many of these foreign-trained students become stranded in the Ghanaian job market upon their return, while many foreign investment companies struggle in finding ideal personnel for certain job portfolios.
Dr. Agyemang explained that it is for this reason that the secretariat is creating the labour bank to address the frustrations of the foreign -trained job seekers as well as investor recruitment challenges.
According to the Registrar, the labour hub will serve as a common platform for both job seekers and potential employers.
He said the platform will supply the right human resource of Ghanaians who have undergone training outside the country through the scholarship secretariat to meet the needs of foreign and local business community.
Dr. Kinsley Agyemang expressed optimism that a well-established platform of personnel trained from investor countries will help minimize barriers associated with foreign business vacancies with regard to language and work culture.
“The tremendous support that Ghana receives from other countries in the training of Ghanaians offers us an opportunity to coordinate our human capital for effective national deployment”, he observed.
Dr. Kingsley Agyemang therefore underscored the need for organizational cooperation between institutions of state to drive policies for the socio-economic development of Ghana.
