Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorko Botcwey has been appointed the Next commonwealth Secretary-General at a 2 day retreat of Commonwealth Heads of Government.
In a keenly contested race, Ayorko Botcwey had an overwhelming endorsement from the Heads of Governmentin Samoa’s Capital, Apia.
Born in February ,1963, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey was a former Member of Parliament for the people of Anyaa- Sowutuom and the current Minister for Foreign Affairs since her appointment in 2017.

Showing her Appreciation to Heads of Government at the conference,H on Ayorko wrote on her X wall that she is “truly humbled by the overwhelming support of the Commonwealth Heads of Government in selecting me as the incoming Secretary-General of the Commonwealth”, adding that “the work indeed lies ahead!”
The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association consisting of 56 independent and equal sovereign states and has a population of 2.7 billion.
