The president of the republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has revealed that the country is currently in a very “damn” economic crisis.

According to the President though this is not the first time the country is experiencing such economic challenge, yet Mr. Mahama described the current situation as “more daunting” than the country has ever witnessed.

President Mahama pointed out that the current situation is worse since it is characterized by high inflation rate, micro economic instability, lowest depreciation of the cedi and huge external debt defaults which has shut the country out of the international credit market.

He was however hopeful that with the help of the Ashantihene, things were going to get better moving forward.

The president made the disclosure when he joined the occupant of the Golden Stool, His Royal Mejesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the entire Ashanti kingdom to observe the first Akwesidae on the Asante calendar for the year 2025 at the Menhyia Palace yesterday.

He observed that during his previous administration between 2013 and 16 the country encountered some kind of micro economic instability.

He noted that during those moments, he had to call on the Ashantihene on number of occasions for his intervention and assistance.

He publicly acknowledged how the Otumfuo then used his influence and diplomatic previleges to remove some barriers to help ensure that the country returned to the path of economic growth and prosperity.

He asked that having inherited a worse economic downturn again, he’s counting on the usual cooperation of the leader of the Ashanti kingdom for his intervention.

President John Dramani Mahama expreessd optimism that with the cooperation and assistance of His Royal Mejesty, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would once again turn around the economic furtunes of the country back on track.
