The deputy chairman of the Ashanti regional chapter of Ghana National Association of Garages has appealed to the government to provide the association with a fire tender to facilitate prompt and rapid response to fire outbreaks that may occur at sites.
Hon Charles Yamoah Boateng, ( alias Nana Boateng) stressed on the need for immediate fire prevention and fighting interventions at the various sites of the association across the region.
The deputy regional chairman made the appeal druing discussions with the media at the association’s office in Tafo in Kumasi.
Nana Boateng pointed out that the recent reported cases of fire outbreak at site in the various zones accross the country and especially in the Ashanti region is a cause for worry to all industry players and the garages association leadership.
The deputy chairman observed that the Suame and Tafo light industral hub is a very sensitive environment where fire fighting intervention and equipments are highly needed.
The chairman pointed out that the Tafo-Suame magazine site as others cluster aut mechanical sites can be described as fire prone since such environments are full of imflamable substances and combustible materials.
He noted that the high rate of property losses and damages during fire outbreaks and the aftermath economic burdens usually leave garages owners, business entities, traders and individuals mechanics and artisans at the various industrial sites traumatized.
He attributed the high rate of damages and economic losses to delays or late arrival of fire fighting aids and assistance to the affected scenes.
Nana Boateng argued that the level of losses could be reduced if there are fire fighting equipments and personnel close to the industrial sites.
He also called on members of the association and users of the industrial hub to be cautious and avoid tendencies that are likely to cause an outbreak of fire.
