The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene yesterday met with stakeholders and identifiable groups, inccluding leadership of the various political parties and activists in the region.
Addressing the media, Dr Amoakohene said the engagement forms part of his administration’s efforts to build a stronger collaborative relationship among stakeholders in the region.
The minister acerted that effective collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders and actors in the region in particular and across the country and beyond is necessary in driving in the needed human and capital resources to address the numerous development challenges in the region.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene outlined a number of issues and development concerns which need critical solutions in the region.
Among key sectors of prime focus to the minister include improving upou the region’s urban transportation systems to facilitate easy movement of people as well as goods and services to and from the region.
The Minister said his administration will engage with all industry players in the transport business to identify challenges and lapses and deliberate on solutions to concerns of the sector.
Dr Amoakohene noted that security is of the prime concern and importance to the government, describing it as crucial to wooing investors into any environment.
He said the regional security council will adopt intelligence driven measures to ensure the safety and security of the people in the Ashanti region and it’s immediate surroundings.
The regional minister cited socio-economic growth and empowerment as another critical area of much importance to his administration.
He pointed out that the current government is passionate to addressing the rate of joblessness and unemployment among the youth.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene announced that the Ashanti regional coordinating council through the central government will ensure the immediate review and completion of all stalled and abandoned government and state interest projects in the region to boost job creation for economic growth and well-being.
As a health practitioner, sanitation and hygiene is paramount to government leadership and his administration. He said his office as the minister will implement pratlical and technology driven waste management systems that enhance total sanitation and hygiene in the region.
He on this note called on heads of the various political parties activists in the region cooperation and collaborate well with the government and his administration to work together to bring the needed progress and development to the region.
Political parties that responded to the regional minister’s call for collaborative engagement included the Action People’s Party (APP), LPG, GCPP, CPP, GUM, NDC, NDP, PNP, and the PNC.
