has developed a gender Policy document for its members.
The leading Cocoa farmer based organisation in Ghana tailored the policy to suite national and International Labour Conventions and international cocoa certification guidelines.
The eight paged document if approved by delegates will guide operational activities of both staff and members of the Kuapa Kokoo Cooperative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union (KKFU).
The policy document is to provide clear guidelines for the organisations gender mainstreaming.
It is also to ensure gender equity, equality, and consistency in decision making processes.
According to management, the policy will serve as guideline on the organisation’s code of ethics compliance.
Key issues in the document include gender balance, capacity building and women empowerment.
Others are gender based training and development, sexual harassment, as well as women inclusion in management and decision making.
Kuapa Kokoo currently has 57 Fairtrade Primary Co-operative Societies and 30 UTZ/RA certified societies
