Young couple met their untimely death when electronic wire they have been using as drying line came into contact with life cable.
The sad incident occurred in Kongo community in the Nabdam District in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
The town was thrown into mourning on Wednesday April 20, 2022.
Ghana’s state-owned media, Graphic Online reports that the couple was electrocuted by the electric wire on the couch of their home.
It is believed their very drying line that happens to be a wire had gotten into contact with a life electric cable in their apartment without their knowledge.
Narrating the incident to a Graphic reporter, neighbours said the couple, Mary and Joseph Banike lived together in their apartment at Kongo in Northern Ghana.
According to witnesses, the wife woke up early Wednesday morning to fetch water.
It is said while pouring the water into a storage tank on the veranda, the vessel she was carrying accidentally got into contact with the electric wire drying line.
Since the drying line had come into contact with power, she got electrocuted.
As she resisted the shocks, she was reportedly knocked off.

Her husband, Joseph Banike was in the house at the time of the incident.
In the husband’s desperate attempt to save his wife, he also got electrocuted in the process.
The development attracted family and relatives to the couple’s compound.
They rushed the unconscious couple to the nearby Ayamfoya Memorial Hospital.
But Joseph Banike and wife Mary Banike were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital
The couple’s bodies have since been deposited at the Ayamfoya Memorial Hospital morgue for autopsy and onward burial.
