Ghana’s Opposition Party, the national Democratic Congress(NDC) has vowed to resist any attempt by any individual to change the current setting of parliament.
Following a recent declaration of 4 vacant seats by the country’s Speaker of Parliament, RT Hon ,Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin, the ruling New Patriotic Party filed a suit at the Supreme to stop the speaker from declaring those seats vacant.
Speaking at a press conference Held on Sunday 20 October,2002, the now Majority leader ,Cassiel Ato Forson hinted that his side will clinched onto their new majority status and “will not bow, retreat nor surrender.”
“We will not abdicate our responsibility to the people no matter what!Nothing , absolutely nothing, will change this position, the majority leader added.

Ato Forson warned that any interference of the business of parliament will be unlawful,unacceptable and shall be resisted.
“We are fortified that the proceedings of Parliament shall not be impeached or questioned in any court or place out of parliament”, he added
- He noted that the New Patriotic party government has made Ghana a high tax regime and that is affecting the survival of businesses and the people.”We assure you that we will use our new majority to Protect businesses and the people of Ghana ,as we have always maintained.It is also true that we will use our new majority to remove the betting tax and other nuisance taxes”, Ato Forson assured Ghanaians.
