Ghana’s most prestigious inter-club football competition Ghana Premier League 2021-2022 season has been launched
The competition commences matches on Friday 29th of October 2021 with newly promoted side Accra Lions taking on Elmina Sharks.
The defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak will begin their title defence at home with city rivals Legon Cities.
The title hopefuls Asante Kotoko will travel to Accra, Ghana‘s capital to face Dreams Football Club.
The Ghana premier league season features 18 football clubs from the southern part of the country and 8 from the northern part.
Despite challenges of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) efforts to secure a title sponsor, yet the end reward is encouraging.
Winner of the league will receive Ghs250, 000 prize while the first and second runner ups receive Ghs150, 000 and Ghs80, 000 each.
To ensure fair play during the competition and avoid cheating on the pitch, best officiating prize has been introduced.
According to the GFA, the best referee will receive a car at the end of the season.
The GFA President Kurt Okraku disclosed that each club will receive 40 footballs from Tempo, the official ball sponsor.
He said FA is developing an App to improve viewership of the competition which is expected to end in June 2022.
In the week one fixtures, Bibiani Gold Stars takes on Brekum Chelsea, whilst
Accra Hearts of Oak battles Legon cities.
Bechem United and Medeama, .Karela United vrs Aduana Stars, formidable Dreams FC will crashe with the porcupine worriers Asante Kotoko and Accra Lions dare faces Elimina Sharks.
Other fixtures will see Real Temale United with Accra Great Olympics,
Eleven Wonders verses Ashanti Gold and King Fisal against Wafa in that order..
