The Department of Health in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa has issued a statement lauding the youngest medical practitioner to graduate from medical school at such a tender age in the country.
Authorities expressed much delight over Dr. Decent Mkhombo stunning excellence exhibited at the University of Limpopo which has crowned him the enviable feat at Age 21.
The Statement issued and signed by the Media Liaison Officer of the health department said Decent Mkhombo from Thulamahashe, Bushbuckridge local munipality in Mpumalanga is among 47 young medical doctors who took the oath at the University of Limpopo after a successful completion of their studies .
” Dr. Mkhombo who is from a family of five excelled so much in his studies that he skipped some grades. He was promoted from grade 4 to grade 5 at Thulamahashe lower primary school and later from grade 8 to grade 9 at Orhovelani High school, where he matriculated in 2015, ” Mr. Christopher Nobela explained.
The statement revealed that Mkhombo’s dream of becoming a medical doctor become a reality following his admission to the University of Limpopo to study medicine at a tender age in 2016.
Ms Sasekani Manzini Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health in Mpumalanga Province, said young Dr. Decent has demonstrated “that everything is possible if you put more efforts, discipline and committed to your goal.”
Ms. Manzini advised the young Doctor to remember that his profession is not a mere occupation but rather, ” a calling and life of service to others”.

She further reminded Mkhombo that his chosen career could be challenging but will also bring him the ” greatest satisfaction” adding that “you will have the chances everyday to make the difference in your country, and in the lives of your patients and their families”.
“you will be on a position to touch people’s lives at times when they are most vulnerable and may need your services. We urge other young people to emulate your achievements as they pursue their dreams”, Ms. Sasekani Manzini concluded.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health has indicated that Dr. Decent Mkhombo will be deployed to one of the health facilities in the province to serve as a medical intern.
